Media Relations Internships
As an assistant publicist, interns will be expected to support the campaign manager on multiple media campaigns for Phenix & Phenix clients. Interns will learn the entire process of promoting a book and an author, from start to finish.
Duties
- Attend strategy sessions and help develop campaign strategies
- Develop and maintain valuable media contacts
- Write press materials including author biographies and press releases
- Assemble media kits
- Research and construct creative angles for promoting the authors and their books
- Pitch to a variety of media outlets via phone, fax, e-mail and mail
- Respond to media queries on behalf of clients and P&P as needed
- Help set up and execute media interviews for clients
- Keep meticulous records of contacts, correspondence, and bookings during media campaigns
- Keep abreast of current media and book industry news, events, and trends
Qualifications
- An understanding of all forms of media, including print, broadcast and Internet
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High level of computer knowledge, including word processing, spreadsheets, Internet browsing, e-mail and database concepts

*Our internship opportunities are un-paid and are available for course credit throughout the fall, spring, and summer semesters, though you do not need to receive course credit to participate.
